Favorite books of 2016!
1) Crooked Kingdom
Leigh Bardugo outdid herself with this finale. I LOVED Six of Crows and quite possibly love the sequel even more. It was a perfect ending to one of my all-time favorite series.
2) The Fate of the Tearling
The mind-bending ending is controversial among readers, but I LOVED it. I finished this book about six weeks ago and am still thinking about it. Visit the comments on my Goodreads review to see the research I’ve been doing to piece together answers to some of the dangling questions readers had!
3) Morning Star
This is a great conclusion to a fantastic trilogy. I’m convinced it will be the next blockbuster movie franchise based on a book series. And we get a new trilogy set in this same universe in August. Bring it on!
4) Lady Midnight
Oh, how I love the impossible love stories Clare devises, and Jemma is no exception!
5) My Lady Jane
This is funniest book I’ve read in a long, long time. It is pure, unabashed fun.

Coming up:
First quarter 2017 is going to be big in the YA world! We’ve already seen the release of the conclusion to the Passenger duology as well as the opener of Veronica Roth’s new series. Can she redeem herself after the Allegiant debacle? We suspect she can and are excited to read Carve the Mark!
One of our most anticipated releases for the beginning of 2017 is Caraval. It released on January 31st. If it lives up to the hype of the lucky bloggers who snatched up ARC’s, it is sure to delight!
February will see the release of book 3’s for two popular series: King’s Cage in the Red Queen series and A Conjuring of Light in the Shades of Magic series.
March will bring book two in the Rebel of the Sands series, which will take quite a different turn than the series opener. And Laini Taylor, author of the unique and exciting Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, debuts the first book in her new series, Strange the Dreamer. It sounds like another truly unique story.
There’s so much to read and so little time! Did we miss anything you’re looking forward to in the first few months of the year? Let us know about it in the comments!
YA Book News
Last fall, Sarah J. Maas revealed her Throne of Glass series is getting the TV treatment on Hulu. Details are scarce, but the series will be called Queen of Shadows and has landed a good director and writer.

In December, Maas shared a picture of the script for the pilot episode entitled Celaena. Readers everywhere are eagerly awaiting more news, most importantly who will comprise the cast! If Hulu likes the pilot episode, it’s likely to get a series order, perhaps in 2018.

Who is excited for book two in Cassandra Clare’s The Dark Artifices series? It’s one of our most anticipated releases of 2017, so we are devouring each Lord of Shadows snippet Clare shares!
