QUICK SUMMARY: The marriage between Misery, daughter of the Nest’s most formidable Vampyre, and Lowe, Alpha of his Were pack, is a calculated union, convenient for both their kinds. But Misery had her own agenda. Her best friend, Serena, has vanished without a trace, and among her belongings, Misery discovers a note that leads her to believe Lowe is responsible. The marriage would give her access to answers.
The note, she discovers, refers not to Lowe but to his seven-year-old sister Ana—a Were-Human hybrid whose very existence defied nature’s laws.
Just as Misery and Lowe’s relationship deepens, she’s kidnapped by her own father, whose sinister plot unfolds: he’s been manipulating tensions between Weres and Humans for generations, fearing their potential alliance against Vampyres. Ana’s hybrid existence threatens this carefully constructed division, as does Serena, who turns out to be a hybrid herself. This is the real reason for her abduction, an act committed by Misery’s father, when Serena began investigating Ana’s parentage.
